What Is Kybella™?
Kybella™ (deoxycholic acid) is a new injectable service for the treatment of the appearance of a double chin or "turkey neck". The injection can significantly improve chin contouring and smoothness without invasive surgery or downtime. Kybella™ has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the reduction of submental fat.

How Does Kybella™ Work?
Kybella™ will be administered into the submental fat under your chin using multiple injections. Kybella™ "KYBELLA destroys fat cells which reduces the appearance of fat below the chin". Once the fat cells are destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. When properly injected in the submental area, it has been shown to dissolve fat that causes a double chin. This can result in a more streamlined neck and can improve your overall chin profile.

How Frequent Are The Treatments?
Kybella™ is administered in a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. 1 to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart. There are many factors such as age, physiology, anatomy, and your goals that will help determine which treatment plan is best for you. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions.

Is There Any Down Time?
There can be some bruising and swelling following Kybella™ treatments, similar to other injectables, which can last up to a week. Patients are advised to wait a few days before returning to the gym. Performing any strenuous activity can prolong swelling and increase bruising. You may experience some swelling and some tenderness for a few days because the body is cleaning up all cellular debris and creating a bit of contraction in the skin. But because it’s not an invasive procedure, the recovery promises to be faster than recovery from liposuction. The swelling at the injection site may last 4-7 days.
